Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) with the collaboration of Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) is running its project “Helping Girls into Schools Through School Improvement and Advocacy” in four districts of South Punjab: Chiniot, Muzaffargarh, Multan and Rahim Yar khan. The main aim of the project is to ensure the provision of quality education in a risk free (child friendly) environment to Children (especially girls), and to sensitize the Govt. of Punjab for enhanced budget spending on girls education.
ITA aims to ensure the access to quality education though rehabilitation of flood affected/non-affected schools with provision of learning materials and (Furniture & Fixtures) and by enhancing the capacities of stakeholders to advocate issues related to education (including low budgetary allocation, budget management, budget tracking, budget monitoring and gendered budget, governance and accountability).
According to a conservative estimate around 30,000 students, 370 teachers, 370 School Councils (SC) members and 250,000 community members would directly benefit from the project; wide range of teachers, children, parents, local community based organizations (CBO), other partner organizations, and district govt. / Department of Education would also be benefit as positive externalities reaches them.
The project has been successfully running in the four districts since January 01, 2011 and is expected to complete in November 30, 2012.
